Palomino Dreams

What do you think of when you read the word palomino? Some may think of the majestic color type of horse distinguished by its cream, yellow, or gold and white mane and tail. Although horses are beautiful, I tend to envision the dreamy colors of greenish blue to medium blue like the tropical waters of a faraway beach destination with luxurious white sands. Maybe it reminds you of a summer day before an afternoon storm when skies darken and the air gets heavy with the aroma of a distant thunderstorm. I fell in love with this beautiful stone (palomino turquoise) and decided to redecorate my living room to give me that beautiful feeling of an afternoon summer rain.

The decor before the makeover was very romantic shabby chic which I still love, but the richness of the palomino colors is very warm and cozy. Here is the before picture:

After bookmarking my finds, I ordered everything in hopes that it would give me the same feel as the pendant. Here are the results:

I think it’s warm and cozy. I can almost hear the rumble of thunder and smell the afternoon rain when I walk in there. Never underestimate using your favorite piece of jewelry as inspiration for a little decorating update!

As Albert Hadley says, “Design is coming to grips with one’s real lifestyle, and one’s real place in the world. Rooms should not be put together for show but to nourish one’s well being.”
